Success! You'll hear back from me soon. ;)

Uh-Oh, there was a problem - please try again!

Simplify=My Motto.  Life is hectic enough on its own, so I'm always looking for ways to simplify the process.  For me, simplifying the photography process meant getting rid of having both the traditional website and a blog.  Welcome to My Blogsite!  One handy place where you can find everything you need - from pricing to proofing, the wedding I recently photographed and even the occasional snapshot from my own life.

I'm a wife, a mom, a dancer, a photographer.  A daughter, a gardener, a Christian, a fighter for babies.  I believe in making yourself happy instead of waiting around on someone else to do it for you.  I believe in taking care of your body so that it can take care of you.  I believe in fighting for what you believe in, and standing up to those who would try and stop you.  I believe in small treasures; a Hershey's bar for a friend who's had a bad day, stickers for a child just because, hugs hugs and lots of hugs and kisses for the ones you love.

Thanks for checking me out!  I'd love to be there with you through all your life's events:  weddings, pregnancies, baby milestones, senior portraits, grandchildren...and on and on.  Here's to a lifetime documented!

Wedding: Lindsey & Aaron

Lindsey and Aaron were married in a beautifully traditional ceremony and it was an honor for me to be there. The presence of love and faith in their families was so apparent, and it made the day exceptional. It’s always wonderful for me to see two families supporting their children’s marriage so whole-heartedly. On to the photos!

Lindsey’s dad gave the funniest, most heart-warming toast to his daughter and son-in-law. I think it touched everyone in the room.

The groom showing off his ring to his mom. :)

Engagement: Christie.David

Love LOVE these two! Everything they did was so fun, so personal. And the best part about them – they spend their time together laughing! I can’t wait for you to get to see their wedding as well…it was beautiful! But first, a sneak peek of their engagement session!

Be on the lookout for photos from their amazing wedding – coming soon!

Engagement: Angie.Joe

Angie and Joe were so much fun! We shot first at the golf course in Auburn where Joe works, then went into downtown Opelika. Looking forward to their April 2010 wedding!

For some reason, this picture makes me think of Twilight…not really sure why…. :)

Love how she’s got him cracking up in this one:

Probably my favorite from the day – how stunning is she?!?!?!!!!!

Wedding: Claudia.Erdem

Claudia and Erdem had a beautiful wedding in Auburn. One of my favorite parts of the day was the Family Formals. What?!?!?!! you say? :) Yes, that’s right – the Family Formals, which are never anyone’s favorite part of the day, hehehe. But…Claudia’s and Erdem’s families live in different countries, and as I’m sure they don’t see each other nearly as often as they wish, it was extremely important to them to have tons of pictures of their families. To this end, we took family pictures in several locations. If you’re looking to have unique family portraits, and have FUN doing them…take your cue from this wonderful couple, and think outside the church!

A few pictures of the beautiful bride for you –

And yes, we did indeed do the traditional Family Formals. :)

LOVE this moment:

And this one – the excitement is so obvious!

Something you don’t see very often anymore: the Receiving Line. I can’t even begin to tell you how highly I think of this tradition. It’s not only the perfect way to make sure you get to speak individually to each guest at your wedding, it also allows me to photograph each them with you!

Here’s a couple of my favorite dance floor moments:

Congratulations, Claudia & Erdem!

Family: Elyssa & Cameron

Before I post these pictures, let me go ahead and fess up that I’m waaay behind on blogging! But I had to make a choice – do I get the photos for my clients finished and to them, or do I immediately blog everything I do? Well, it’s obvious which one I chose. So here we go, playing catch up…

Back in August, I had the wonderful opportunity to photography Elyssa & Cameron, who are actually the niece and nephew of one of my April 2010 brides. Elyssa adores having her picture taken, as you can tell, but Cameron…not so much… ;)

Is this sweetness or what?

And now the same set-up, but with a mad face. I <3 mad faces.

It’s Good to be Back!

Well, I’m back!  The site is back up and running – and unless this is your first time here with me, you’ll notice it’s a big change!  Click the About Me button above, and you’ll find the reason for the change.  I’m super excited about this new blogsite (it’s a blog, and a site – all in one!  hooray!) and I think you’ll enjoy it too.  I do have to ask you to bear with me…there are still a few things that need to be added/tweaked.  But in the meantime, this should get you what you need.

I have to take a minute here to thank Courtney and Leda (my wonderful bff) for their amazing help with putting this together.  I couldn’t have done it without these two!  Be sure to check them both out - in addition to being website-savvy, they’re also both fabulous photographers.

I hope y’all enjoy this new venture of mine, and find it easy to use.  Let me know your thoughts!

Engagement: Mel.Chris

“It began on that night. He believed that it was to go on for the rest of his life.” William Faulkner’s Light in August, excerpt from page 167.

You know how some things are meant to be? Well, Mel&Chris = meant to be. I’m sure there are endless examples of how perfect they are together, but if you’ll look at the picture above, you’ll see my personal experience of how they’re meant to be. You see, both Chris and Mel are avid readers (also, Chris is a Librarian) so I asked them to each bring along their favorite book. At one point during our time together, I took Chris’ book, which is the one pictured above, and Mel’s ring, and asked Chris if he by chance had a favorite passage in the book. Not only did he tell me no, he went on to tell me that there would probably not be anything in the book photo-with-engagement-ring appropriate. I flipped open the book. Scanned the page. Flipped the page. That’s when I found the passage above. Appropriate, indeed…

I always tell couples when we first get started that the first few pictures are normally “throw away pictures.” The subjects are nervous, we’re still all getting used to each other, so more times than not, the first few pictures just aren’t worthy. Not so with Mel and Chris. These two pictures were some of the first ones we took. (And make sure you check Chris’ socks – love!)

The first part of our session took place at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art in Auburn. I’d driven past it many times, but had never stopped. It was perfect!

I absolutely LOVE the colors in this photo.

For the second part of our session, we went to the library. Perfect, right? I absolutely LOVE when couples make their engagement sessions personal. More than anything else you can do, a location that is personal to you will make you fall in love with your photos.

I seriously just want to post the link and password here so you can see ALL of the pictures from the library. They are priceless!

The best part of The Library Session? We sat in the stacks and giggled. Snickered. The.Whole.Time. It was awesome. There were times I couldn’t shoot for laughing so hard. :)

Mel giggled a little too loudly. The quintessential Librarian, Chris shushed her. She shushed him back.

Mel&Chris, Thanks for one of the best sessions EVER! Can’t wait for August 2010!

Wedding: Anne.Matt

Welcome to my new approach to blogging. Few words, lots of photos. Now sit back and enjoy a sneak peek of Anne & Matt’s beautiful day!

Anne & Matt, It was an absolute pleasure to spend your wedding day with you. Best Wishes!

Wedding: Christie.Noah

Gorgeous Bride.Groom + Amazing Friends&Family = very few words needed. Enjoy the photos!

Brothers. This picture of Noah and his two brothers makes me happy my own boys have each other.

The Classic Bride.

On to the reception. I loved this table – wedding photos from different members of Christie and Noah’s families. What a great idea!

In lieu of favors, a donation to St. Jude’s.

*teehee*

My wonderful assistant Sarah got this shot – love their expressions!

My new friend: Mark. Christie told me he’d be there, snapping away right along with me.

One of Mark’s captures:

Unless I’m much mistaken, this moment is titled: Now, walk it by yourself…walk it by yourself….

Christie & Noah – thank you so much for welcoming me into your lives on this important day. Best Wishes for a long and happy life together!

Ridge: 6 Months

It’s hard to believe this little man is already 6 months old. I’ve met up with him and sister Evie three times now – the other two times were for suprise pictures for dad and then again for 3 month pictures. Each time I see these two reminds of what a lucky girl I am to have such a great job!

Now…we all know that kids aren’t always up for taking photos. Evie’s dad really wanted lots of pictures of her in her Disney dress-up outfits, since she is about to grow out of them. However, Miss Evie just was not into playing dress up for me. We still managed to get some pretty great pictures of her in them. Here’s a couple of the outfits we used:

Who says you have to smile for a photo to be great? This is actually my favorite picture of her from the whole day. I *love* the look on her face in this one – if it doesn’t say ‘toddler’ I don’t know what does!

Isn’t 6 months all about exploring? And at this age, the best thing to explore? Grass!

Yes! A smile!

We took a break from sticking the camera in the kids’ faces and let them play for a bit. Playtime=great captures. :)

Hey look! More grass!

My favorite of Ridge from the day – how could you not fall in love with this kid??? :)
